Still no signal

ok thanks guys for the replies, did just have a new roof put on and the lags were a bit loose so I have tightened those down. I have improved 91's signal to 80% run check switch and again it tells me I have fewet satellites than I had before. This is what I get after check switch

what transponder should I use to try to peak my signal on 82? I have successfully got 91 but still get absolutely nothing on 82. ready to pull my hair out, this set up was functioning perfectly last week!!

update

ok So now I have 50% for 82 and 95% for 91, I ran check switch and my the X that was there has disappeared, yet still no program guide..............check that, the guide just began to download!!!!!!!! Should I attempt to achieve a better 82 signal quality and if so on what transponder? Thanks so much for all replies!

yes you should 50% is poor. transponder 1 or 32. if you want to pay someone call bell and they will send someone there.

I still have 91 and had 82 at 50%, next day 82 doesnt work at all, my guess is that now that the trees have filled in their leaves is my main issue. My question would be if I can get 91 through the trees does that automatically mean I should be able to get 82? If not I guess Ill have to wait for winter for HD!! Thanks again guys your responses are awesome!!

no, getting 1 doesn't mean you'll get the other. the signals come in crossed from what you would think on a skewed dish, standing behind the dish the lnb for 82 would be lower and to the right however the signal is coming in from higher and to the left. (for east coast)

SW44 with 1 LNB

Hi,
I have 1 existing LNB (91) with 2 ouputs. I would like to connect this to a SW44 for a 4-receiver hookup with future intentions of connecting the 2nd LNB for sat. 82. My question is; would the sw44 work properly with only the 1 LNB for sat. 91 connected for the time being. As I understand, I could use a SW24 but would not have the option of connecting the 2nd LNB for future HD programming.

Yes, no issues, you can just use the 2 lines from 91 into an SW44, giving you 4 outputs.

This was done a lot, some time ago when Bell ran out or the cheaper 4 way switch's.

Question (and probably somewhere already on this thread),

I have a dual tuner HDPVR (9200) and the switch showing up is SW21 (when I ran the test it appears that tuner 2 isn't working right now, need to figure that bit out as I want to run that to an upstairs tv), anyhow I assume that the 2nd tuner is also a SW21. We're finishing our basement now and I will be putting a new HDTV downstairs and would like to add one more for a total of 4 TVs (2 HD, 2 SD), so my question is, what are the:
1. cheapest and
2. best
route to adding 2 more TV's in the house?

I see that on the first post of this thread that my set-up is a typical one for Bell and that the maximum number of TVs I can run is 2.

As a further note, each time I run "System Info" the signal shows up with a red x for both 91 & 82 so I reset the receiver and reception comes back again and I can watch/change channels no problem. As I said we are finishing our basement and cables (RG6) have been unscrewed and screwed back together with couplers, as the guys are doing work. Why would reception be fine until I run System Info or Point Dish? Seems very strange, along with tuner 2 not seeming to be working anymore.

The 9200 has three inputs. Two satellite tuners and an over the air(OTA) tuner. So you should run three cables for those. It also has an RF output to a TV so a fourth cable for that would be wise.

1 further question to the SW44 connections with 1 dual LNB (91). Am I correct in assuming the 2 lines coming from the LNB will connect to 1A and 2A of the switch?

The reason I'm asking is, I have 2 receivers connected currently; 1 receiver works fine but receiver #2 is having problems acquiring signal.

Use 1a, 1b for 91, which will leave 2a, 2b open for 82 in the future. See SW44 switch discussion on all the info on it.

As it turns out, the problems were caused by a faulty cable. It worked fine connected directly from the LNB to the receiver but when connected to the SW44, it would not deliver a signal to the receiver. I replaced the 35 ft length of RG6 and all was good.

Hi guys - am an old time looker but a first time poster. I must admit my head is buzzing with all these SW threads. Here's my question, I presently have 2 lines coming into the house for 2 receivers (4100 & 6141) and would like to add a 3rd receiver for my daughter's bedroom (3100). I have 2 LNB's... 1 line (91) direct to my 4100 model and and the other line has the 91 with the 82 passing through a sw21 switch which goes to my HD receiver. Is there a switch I can use on my direct 91 line that I can split to both SD receivers without passing another line from the outside? I hope I make sense as its very clear in my head.

No, that is not possible.

You should ideally add an SW44, then all 3 lines (including the new one) will have full access to both birds.

As an alternate, you could use a 2 x 4 switch at the Dish. Take BOTH lines from 91 into the 2 x 4 switch. 1 output to the SW21, 1 output to the existing 3100, 1 output to the new receiver, the 3100.

Installation - 6331 - SW21

Hi guys and gals,

I am having all sorts of issues with a setup at a friends house. He has 2 older 18" dishes - one is an 18" Directv dish. Anyways....using my birdog I pointed one at 82 and the other at 91. I can lock on both with my meter independently. If I plug one into a SW21 switch LNB1 and measure with my meter I can get a lock. However if I plug both in and run a check switch on his 6331 receiver it only picks up 1 satellite. I figured the LNB's were fine as I can verify signal on each one seperatley it's once I combine them that it messes up.

Any ideas? It's driving me crazy.
