It's me again. So, today the hard drive is working again. So, I assume the hard drive is wonky and will fail again in the near future. Would I be able to use a new hard drive for my upcoming recordings and use the old hard drive to watch my previously recorded shows. In other words, will the 6131 recognize different hard drives that are being used on the same receiver?

Thanks again.
this has happened 2-3 times, asking to reformat drive. i turned off/unplugged drive for 1 min and disconnected it from receiver 6131. once connected, it worked perfectly again. possibly hd was overheated...it is plugged in continuously. i have 3 different hd's and if they are reconnected i can play all the recordings on them ( unsure if i can record new shows though)

Anyone know if firmware updates are still sent via 82w bird for the 6131? I've got on hand a 6131 stuck on firmware v176 (2013) and it won't detect the 91w bird. I tried with a sw44 (recognized) and a DPP. Both had signal on 82w and 91w. I left the receiver overnight and it did not download any firmware update on 82w, the only satellite detected when I make a check switch.

I would give it a few more days and try calling Bell. I've heard of receivers that refused to update because the existing firmware was so outdated that it could not be updated from satellite. Bell CSRs may not be able to help either. one option may be to find a technician or service shop that can update it manually. It's not a good idea to leave satellite receivers disconnected and inactive for a long time as important updates get missed and it can be difficult to reactivate them.
