6131 missing Sat 82

Hello there, having a problem getting my 6131 working. Called Bell tech support 3 times and they are clueless so hoping clever folks in this forum can assist.

I recently purchased a 6131 off Kijiji. Transferred over to my account and fired up no problems except won't see Sat 82 on port 2. Sat 91 shows up as Green and OK under Port 1 on Installation Summary page. Port 2 shows Satellite = X; Transponder = X. Status = Reception Verified and Switch = SW44. All of my 91 channels work no problem on this box.

> I have 4 other receivers in the house and all of them work fine including when I plug them into the coax this receiver is on
> Signal strength on both 91 and 82 is 90 to 100% on all receivers
> The 6131 in question has been hooked up for 12+ hours
> Rebooted several times (held PWR until green light went off)
> Did Check Switch like 10 times
> Did Factory Reset from the System Setup menu
> Unplugged and plugged back in
> Did re-sync both online and with Bell Tech
> Put receiver in burlap bag with live chicken and swung above my head 10 times

What I suspect the previous owner did: he had this box at his cottage where he had a single LNB pointed at 91. He did a Check Switch and when he got the message "You appear to have less satellites than you should, hit cancel to save current config" he instead hit "Save". Not sure if this is germane to the discussion.

Guidance appreciated and many thanks!

Therefore he wouldn't know if the box was defective for receiving 82. A factory reset and check switch should override any saved configuration from a previous check switch.

It sounds like everything possible has been checked. It's likely that the receiver is defective. Maybe someone here knows of something else that can be tried. Escalating the issue to a 2nd level tech at Bell might help.

have you tried a check switch with no coax connected, and save it, then do another check switch with the coax connected and see if it picks up the second satellite?
Brilliant! That absolutely worked.
>Disconnected coax
>did check switch
>Saved and rebooted
>Did check switch with coax reattached
>82 showed back up!

Reboot again and now have my TSN and SportsNet HD channels up and running!!

Thank you!!!!

BTW - Bell techs (in Philippines call centre I believe) said there was no such thing as Tier 2 Techs but they could send tech to my house for $75!!!

Glad to hear this worked for you :)

Cannot Lock to Nimiq 82 for 6131 HD Receiver

We recently purchased 6131 HD Receiver, bought a Twin LNB that as we were told has an internal switch.
Got it all hooked up but we cannot lock onto Nimig 82, no problem getting 91(100% locked), 82(96%not locked) is there but we cannot get it locked.

Any suggestions of what we are doing wrong? could we have a bad switch, we have never used LNB with an internal switch before.

And further to jdevlin, do you have any other equipment in the circuit, from the LNBF to the receiver.

Another thing to try, is to ensure you are getting signals from both birds by covering each side of the Twin LNBF in turn and seeing if the signal drops.

After that, running the Check Switch with NO Coax connected and saving it when it fails and it will fail, this has the effect of resetting the box back to defaults. Then, connect the coax, run it again.

We have just one receiver hooked up to this dish.
signal from 82 seems to be there but we cannot get it lock on. we will try the covering the LNB and resetting back to defaults and doing check switch again.
We have never used a LNB with a switch, could not getting 82 locked could it be a faulty switch?

To answer your earlier question of how you get 5 receivers from an SW44.
I did a service call recently. Customer had 5 HD (non-PVR) receivers in operation using two 2x4 multiswitches, connected to an SW44. One output from each multiswitch was also connected to an SW21, thus giving 5 HD receivers.
Problem was, one of the 5 incoming lines stopped providing 82 signal on 4 separate Transponders. I've never seen this problem in 15 years of doing this. Changing the receivers around confirmed a problem on the one line only.
I connected a temporary line from the suspected output of the SW44 and confirmed the problem was with the SW44 switch.
To solve the problem, I removed the old equipment and installed a new DPP Quad LNB and a DPP44 switch.
Check Switch tested the 5 receivers and everything worked fine.

So there were only 4 receivers/Tuners connected to the SW44 and 1 connected to an SW21.?

So sadly, you didn't quite answer my question did you......lol

hey guys --havent had a any issues pop up since the remounting/pointing and changing of my switch to a quad lnbf switch until this wk .

my signal strength went from 90+ on most satt 82 transponders down to 50+ and its not locking at all on satt 91 .These were the same symptoms that popped up this summer promting the service call .

does this sound like my new switch is fried already or did the freezing rain / wintery weather up in my neck of ontario cover things up affecting the signal .If so , how long does the $75 service call done this summer cover as warranty ?

its supposed to warm up to +5 on tuesday so hopefully the ice buildup on the dish melts & this problem corrects itself .
