Missing channels is receiver update issue not a hardware issue if you have all the satellite signals. You need to go to bell.ca and hit or sync your receivers. You can call bell and they will also do it over the phone if it doesn't work on the internet. It can take a hour or more to come through although it usually doesn't take that long.

I'm not sure if this should be in the installation forum or the HD receiver forum. If this is the wrong one, mods, please move it.
I called Bell last night to activate a 6131. The Bell rep sent the activation signal but the 6131 just won't take it. I'm still getting the 005 error. He spent a fair bit of time on the phone with me & even called back later to see if it was working. He had me reboot a couple times & run a check switch, but still no go. He read the R & S numbers back to me so I'm sure they're correct, but if I have to call back after work tonight, I'll have them check.
Any ideas what could cause this? Could there be something wrong with the receiver?
You can find on Bell site, phone numbers to cal and reactivate your receiver. Give that a try, worked for me.

Help please

Hi, I am trying to switch from a sd connection to a HD connection. I have been running sd with bell 3100 receivers for quite some time. I now have a 6131 receiver that i am trying to connect. The 6131 receiver is now linked to my account, and according to bell should be working properly.

I have a dual LNB 91 and 82 set up and a sw44 switch.

When i try to hook up my 6131 receiver I get no signal. I do the switch check and get no signal on either 91 or 82. I hook my 3100 receiver back up and it works fine and shows 93% signal on 91.

I have gone through all the trouble shooting and cannot figure out what the issue is.

I am new to satellite installation and I am sorry if this is a elementary question.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Run and save a check switch with the cable disconnected.
If it still doesn't work then it sounds like a defective receiver.
You proved the signal is good by testing the line with another receiver. The only thing left is the receiver.

after a bit of a t-storm last week I'm only getting 50-60 signal strength or even no locking at all on some of the transponders on 91 and anywhere from 66 to 80 signal strength on 82 .

I discovered this because I'll usually put it on stingray rock (904)a few times a day when doing chores and its definately not coming in .(signal loss)and figured out its signal comes from sat 91

Is it normal for the signal strength for transponders on 91 to be that far off from 82 ?

have 3x6131 receivers that have served me well and issue is affecting all.

assuming storm put my dish out of whack and need a repoint

thanks Alan - I called bell and had difficulty communicating with the rep .She asked me to perform the various steps that I had already done so I said that I wasnt going down that road and to simply send a tech tommorrow for 75 bucks .

the check switch test gave a prompt that stated something along the lines of ''you have fewer satellites than previously detected , do you want to save this etc...'

I checked the cancel option instead of saving.

there is a tree 2 houses down that keeps growing higher year by year and is in full summer foliage but standing back 30 feet from my house and gauging the angle I dont think its the cause but I'm not an expert.

I had the same problem and they also sent a tech to upgrade us to a quad switch. He also cleaned up all the cables coming into the house, added all new ends inside and out to my coax. He even tucked in one cable into my soffit around the garage to tidy it up before he left. Buddy did a fantastic job!
