So just a little update, I ordered a Channelmaster LTE filter from Amazon, installed it, and no change. Still buggy on channels 12.1 and 10.1. Anything else I can try? BTW just to answer a previous question, i am not using any type of amp (should I ?)
I am still waiting for my Channel Master CM-3201 (5-599MHz) LTE filter to come in. Which version of the filter did they send you ?
Wow that is strange, an amp will only amplify the problem so you're getting the problem without an amp. The only thing I can think of is FM interference in the 88MHz range, but since 10.1(11) is 201MHz and 12.1 (12) is at 207MHz that doesn't seem like the cause. Try finding any LED lights being used or an audiophile using a tube amp, taxi drivers with their radios etc... ? Or hook up the antenna with another TV to see if you get the same result to rule out a tuner issue. If you have a UPS handy trying plugging your TV's AC cord to see if it is not an electrical RF issue.

I have an 8 bay antenna (cheap version similar to Channel Master 4228HD) with a channel master 7778 amplifier setup in the attic, at a height of 30 feet from ground level and pointed to 168 degrees (using a compas) with an RG6 cable about 30 feet long. My house is located in Mascouche.

I currently get most channels I'd like to receive (2.1, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 5.1, 5.3, 6.1, 10.1, 12.1, 15.1, 17.1, 29.1, 31.1, 33.1, 33.2, 33.3, 33.4, 35.1, 44.1, 44.2, 44.3, 44.4)

although WFFF (44.1, 44.2, 44.3, 44.4) is not constant (signal strength between 70-80% and signal quality between 65-70% all based on my HDHomeRun). 62.1 (Citytv) is very pixelated, I suspect my amplifier is overpowering this channel (signal strength 80%, signal quality 44%, symbol quality 0%).

In a utopic world, I'd live to fin a way to get WVNY (ABC), is there anything that can be done apart from installing a mast on my roof with a dedicated VHF-HI antenna? In my HDHomeRun I see channel 7 (22.1) at a signal strength of 67%, but signal quality and symbol quality at 0%.

Here is my rabbitears info: RabbitEars.Info

Thank you for taking the time to help me out.

Hello cesculier,

You're chasing after some signals from two TV stations and you're not in their coverage area. But then what fun is there in life if you don't have something to chase after? I'm not in your TV reception backyard but I research TV broadcast data on a daily basis.

First take a look at the contour pattern for WFFF >

And the contour pattern for WVNY >

WFFF is broadcast on RF 16 (remaps to 44) but at only 40 kW. This is their listing on RabbitEars >

WVNY is broadcast on RF 7 (remaps to 22), so you really need a VHF antenna outside. IF you try to fly with an antenna for any VHF signals in an attic, it's going to be a constant struggle. And WVNY is using only 14 kW, which is also a little lean for a VHF frequency. Here is their information on RabbitEars >

If you really want better quality signal you might have to go for an outside installation. You are already at 191 amsl so that should help.
Take a look at my at my rabbitears info

The differences: I am at 85' amsl. Distance is 84.9. field strength 49.99 and signal margin 13.99.
I have a colinear yagi at 36' with a kt200 preamp.
And I get WVNY 50 to 60% of the time. Ch7 is much prone to temperature and weather.
During the summer I get WVNY close to 100%.
Antenna is pointed directly at Mt Mansfield and the preamp is not a problem for locals and I would assume the same for your location which is identical to the direction for Mt. Mansfield.
My 2cents,
Cheers

Hi, I am trying to figure out what would be the best options (antenna/preamp/etc) to start receiving OTA.

Looking around the neighborhood I see a variety of externally mounted antennas, from Channel Master 8 bay, huge Yagi’s, round omni directional and what looks like a DB8e clone (with an additional bar), this becomes confusing.
My plan is to hook up 1 tv at first to verify I can receive signals properly and reliable, then future expansion would be to 3 TVs and a HD Homerun type device to capture/DVR the shows. For this I know I will need a distribution amp.
So far, the only thing I seem to have figured out is how to mount the antenna (wall mount brackets and a 10’ poll, should give me about 25’ of height above ground).

All the channel I would want to get are at 101deg 15.9 miles los (Montreal/Mount Royal) and 142deg 88.8 miles 2edge (BURLINGTON/Mount Mansfield).

12‑1 (12) CFCF-DT CTV Montreal VHF would be important to receive.

I know 22‑1(7) WVNY ABC BURLINGTON VT VHF is a challenge to receive and might require a specialized StellarLabs antenna, this is less important, at the moment.

So my question is which Antenna? and which preamp? Do I need an LTE filter? With supply chain availability finding stock is a bit of challenge…

There haven't been any noticeable WPTZ reception issues here in the Plateau over the past few days but they did cut the signal a few times last week for work related to the 5.5 QVC channel addition.

You may want to try rescanning your channels to see if the interim 5.5 QVC work has confused your tuner. The new sub-channel isn't broadcasting but it has been added to the RF14 sub-channel lineup.

Good evening,

We are currently transmitting at reduced power due to transmitter maintenance. We expect this to continue through this coming week.

Thank you for reaching out and for watching us!

ps. I lost reception of WPTZ for the past few days here in ville St-laurent (though I'm only using a large indoor antenna).
