The transmitter is worth a pretty penny. It would have been a shame for him to lose it due to confiscation, so in that sense - obstruction of justice aside, I'm not surprised he barricaded the doors and got the thing out of there before the feds showed up. So, now what? Keep an eye on E-Bay, Used Ottawa, and Kijiji for a 2000W FM Transmitter? He'd be a total dumbass if he tries to set it up again. The RCMP will not be as tolerant as IC if they have to keep going out there to serve warrants for seizure.

I'll swing around again on the way home tonight and see just how "disabled" the tower is, IE: if it's been totally removed or if they just took the dipoles. I'll also be sure to keep an eye on the site to see if he makes any attempt to re-equip.

Further to Gecko's comment - Perhaps we should start a new pool, on what day will he be back on the air?

Jayhaed refused to reveal the location of the equipment and so when the RCMP couldn’t find some of it, they shut off the power to the building and terminated the radio station’s signal.

Georges said that the RCMP told him they would be staying until all of the transmitting equipment was found.
That's got to cut into the club's business, assuming they are on the same power-feed.

A Locksmith to gain access? REALLY??!?!? These idiots are in clear violation of a federal law (multiple even), and still at it after SEVERAL warnings... BUST THE FREAKIN DOOR DOWN!!!

Thank you for spending even more of our money to save a criminal the cost of fixing a broken door.

Power shut off? On a Friday afternoon? That will definitely hurt the side businesses! Unless the strippers are ready to work by candlelight. Might get pretty cold too without any heat, resulting in some interesting side-effects. :)

Here's my pool entry. He'll be back on the air on the afternoon of Friday, January 29, 2010. Enough time to order and set up the new equipment, and just in time for the (long?) weekend when IC will be closed.

This kid desperately needs professional help.

Is this Saade International Centre going to be on the same property as the strip club/hotel? Or do they own land elsewhere? That's one HUGE building to hide stuff in. ;)

"It is expected that the studio will move to the Saade International Centre [8] at 2710 Walkley Road upon construction of the facility. There remained open question though if this facility would come to fruition."

Hey, Jayhaed is the webmaster:

The Ottawa Citizen article now has 3 photos to view:
http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/RCMP+raid+teen+pirate+radio+station/2446382/story.html

Depending upon when the photos were taken, it appears the power is on for least part of the building as the "OPEN" sign is illuminated.

It also appears as though they took the two dipoles and some cabling. anyone know what the tubular object in the left hand of the RCMP in pic #2 is? You can also see it inside of the tower below the antenna in the Sun's pic.

I wonder if the guy who dismantled the stuff, was also the same guy who installed it - that would be ironic ;)

So, he's refusing to say where the equipment is. Well that kid certainly has a few things to learn. I wonder how his father likes having his business shut down? Doesn't an "inn" usually have a few guests? I'm sure they love staying in a place with no heat.

What is it about a court order that he doesn't understand???

Well if they shut off power to the hotel / strip club then his father is going to be losing money so he might change his tune (no pun intended) pretty quickly.

If he changes his tune, does that count as a special request?

Seriously, I wonder how this will all end up at the end. ie: who will go to jail...

He could go to jail, as defying a court order is a criminal offence. However, since he's a minor, there could also be implications for his parents.

Just got home from work and drove by.

- Power has been restored.
- No cops or any other marked vehicles/personnel are on site.
- The 2 Dipoles and whatever 3rd antenna as depiced in Post 902 have been removed, but the tower remains.

I wonder if his request line will be open tonight! ;)

I wonder if they ever found the transmitter....

(big hint: normally found at the end of the cable feeding the antenna) :)

Futher on the court order, I don't think it's legal for the police or IC to enter the building and seize the equipment without one.
