If you are refering to a Pace non-PVR box then yes we had the same problem and Cogeco tech support told me they are having that problem with some of the HD non PVR boxes. I exchanged mine for a PVR box which does not have the problem at least not for me. Cogeco had a deal on that allows you to upgrade to the PVR box free for a year. They had extended the deal due to the mail strike but I am not sure if it is still in effect.
The deal is still on for a free rental of the Pace RGN200R. I just took advantage of it (Sept.6). The offer is valid until Oct. 10 I was told.

Cogeco, RNG200N: can't set up series recording

Hi. Kingston area. Cogeco is the provider. RNG200N is 9 months old and I own it (bought it from Best Buy via a sweet deal new years day).

I can't set up series recordings no matter what I do. It used to work. I searched these forums but couldn't find a previous post solving this problem.

From the guide I can set a single episode to record. But if I select series recording and go through the usual steps, when I'm finished there is no series recording set up (no red dots indicating series recording is set up). No error messages to indicate a problem. It just goes through the motions but no series recording gets set. I've tried many combinations of settings. Tried it on many different shows. Disk is only 15% full. Tried removing power and didn't fix it. Called Cogeco and they reset the box from their office but it didn't fix it.

Cogeco are telling me they can swap the box for another one under warranty. It surprises me greatly that a PVR that is otherwise working perfectly is faulty because series recordings can't be set up. I guess we can swap the box but I can't see that fixing it and we'd lose our PVR contents.

Any ideas anyone?!

Peter

mpts: There's no point in holding on to the receiver if it doesn't do what you want it to. I have a Pace and I've managed to make series recordings. As far as your present recordings are concerned, if they really mean that much to you, you could borrow, beg, but not steal a DVD recorder and transfer your recordings on to that. It's too bad the Pace external hard drive couldnt be used to transfer your recordings on to it the way Bell's does. Anyway, don't let your recordings hold you back from getting a machine that works properly.

RNG200N

Picked mine up today and installed without a problem...tomorrow I will program my harmony one...I would like to know ,after reading the January postings (page 9),if it is still necessary to enter the model number as Moto 6416....thank you for any advice you can offer.

waterug: you are right, I should swap the receiver for a replacement. Part of what is holding me back is that I bought it brand new so am not too keen on getting a refurbished unit as a replacement. But I do want series recording to work. It would surprise me that it is faulty. It must be a configuration setting and not a faulty component. What part could fail that would prevent series recording to work but all other functions to work just fine? Thanks for the reply, Peter

I also bought mine in Kingston BB on that New years day sale I hope they do it again next yr :) If I recall but if I recall I had the same issue and it was because I was trying to set up a series recording by clicking on the program in the guide and the only way I could get it to work was by searching for the name of the show and then it worked for the series recording it shouldn't really make a difference but it worked for me

Give Cogeco another call and see what they say now. You just might get a tech who has experienced this problem before and has a solution. Given the experience of the last poster, it may very well be a guide problem. Mention that to the tech if you go this route.

@evanr67: interesting you say that. The cogeco tech told me that one can only record shows that can be found through the search. I was able to find shows through the search but none of them were series recordable.

@waterug: good idea to call again. I might get a different tech this time, and have better luck. I'll give that a try.

Peter

I just called Cogeco again and this technician said there is an advisory regarding a system-wide problem with series recording. (I am not sure if it only affects certain regions or certain serial number ranges of RNG200N receivers or some other group). She said the only workaround is to use timer recording. They are working on a fix. Glad I called back instead of swapping my only 9-month old receiver for some refurbished unit only to find no difference. Peter

Over the years there has been numerous issues with series recordings (a simple search will find older threads) that seem to originate from the guide provider.

I have plenty of series records setup(daily) and can't remember the last time something was wrong with them.

***Cogeco New Firmware-Pace RNG200N***

This morning I noticed Cogeco had updated the Firmware on the Pace RNG200N From 24.04 to 26.34. Still the same S/W 78.73.

No idea what this improves if anything.

I did notice more channels are now 720p instead of 1080i Like CBC News Network. Before it was only ABC HD & FOX HD.

If the light is still blinking then the update hasn't been applied yet.

Usually unplugging and plugging it back in works to get the update going.

I am having an issue with my Pace 200n . At random times the sound cuts out and the picture freezes for a couple of seconds(no pixelaton). The sound issue is particularly annoying.

It is not my receiver as the problem occurs in both live and recorded programming.

I have tried rebooting the STB but with no improvement.

I am not entirely sure it is the Pace but possibly the transmission. I seem to have noticed the issue since the digital changeover and I suspect some channels may not be broadcasting properly.

Any views or suggestions( I will call for service if mine is a isolated case)

It occurs on most channels, both HD and SD, certainly the ones I frequently watch. The issue appears about 3-4 times per night. Global is particularly bad ,and it's hard to escape with their sim-subs.

If any one watched Harry's law last night ,picture and sound were horrible. I time shift recorded on the western feed as it was unwatchable on Global.

I would assume that you've had your Pace since the digital changeover so you can make the "before and after" comparison. Other than checking the settings for both the Pace and your TV, I can only suggest you call Cogeco. They're really not bad people to talk to! :p Another very remote possibility (no pun intended!): would it be possible for a squirrel to chew through your cable outside. or water to get inside the box on the pole? I have had that happen to me in the past and I had sporadic internet connections. This was before I re-installed cable. Give Cogeco a call.
