The ethernet port and wifi potentially add up to more than 1.5Gbps. A 2.5Gb switch or, a direct connection to a PC or router with a 2.5Gb port should allow the full 1.5Gb as well.
Obviously, however, a lot of people don't know that and simply test using a phone and get 500 and wonder why. That's why I included the "educational" link to several posts discussing just that.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread I'm on the 500 Mbps plan and get 1.4 Gbps regularly on my Mac Mini M2 E10. Others with the 1.5 Gbps plan get 1.8-1.9 Gbps on their compatible equipment via Ethernet or 6E WiFi.

Not that it matters much because many websites don't even go that high.

I had to renew my bundle at the end of March and the least expensive option had 1.5G/50M, even though I was perfectly happy with 500/30. I did a speedtest today and it came back at 1.9/54, link below:

For a more accurate test I opened the Activity Monitor on my Mac Mini M2 E10 and noted the download speed was a consistent 250 MB/s or 2.0 Gbps.

Not that I needed anything like that.

Hmmm... I'll have to upgrade my hardware. I have the same but, with my hardware, I'm limited to "only" 1 Gb down. ;)

It could be cheaper as part of a promotional price. It wouldn't take much of a discount as the regular price for 1.5Gbps is $130, only $10 more than the regular price for 500Mbps internet.

I see Rogers also has a promo for 150Mbps internet at $50 with a 2 year term. It looks like they are trying to put more TPIAs out of business with predatory pricing. Rogers is probably paying for that promo with its profits from increased wholesale prices. There soon won't be any TPIAs left, especially profitable ones.

Hopefully your cost didn't go up. If so, can you advise how much? %?
Overall price of my bundle with 1.5/50 Internet and Total TV went up a small amount (3%), however, if I had "kept" my Premier/500/30 plan the price would have gone up significantly - about 20%. Last year they moved me to 500/30 from 150/20 and my overall bill went down by about 10%, so my new price is about where I was in 2022.

As mentioned by @JamesK , the bundle price is affected by all the channels, which may include certain themes or say Crave, etc. and also what they may currently be trying to promote.

My current package is a holdover from Shaw, but even with their "discounts" our TV (no Crave, HBO, etc.) but the "normal" TSN & SN bundles wit 500/100 Internet is $130 a month - all in.

I would want to see a 20% increase...

As mentioned previously, I'm on the 1.5/50 plan and when I last tested I got 1.9/54 (post 82). There was recent discussion over on Rogers Forum about higher upload speeds available for some people, so I tested again today and was surprised to get the following (1.9/176).

I really have no need for this sort of speed, but since it's the least expensive bundle (with Total TV) I can negotiate, it's what I have.

An item has been added to the Home Connect app - you can check your speed at the modem/gateway, as well as troubleshoot your WiFi.... Link below:

This is useful for people who don't have computers/equipment capable of higher than 1 Gbps via Ethernet, or only have WiFi devices.
