For the last couple years I am getting my service for 6 months for $36. I always mark down in my calendar to call them the day before my subscription is up. Then I call and say I want to cancel. They go through the various offers (like 1 year for $99) but I just tell them I want the same deal I had at 6 months for $36 or go ahead and cancel me. They always give it to me. They are getting something instead of nothing.

My 3 month Canadian SiriusXM trial on my new car should have expired a couple weeks ago but it’s still active I haven’t heard anything from them.
I also have a US account with a lifetime sub on my other car and can get a year of their top package and streaming for $96 US for my new vehicle.
When I eventually get cut off from SiriusXM Canada and they contact me I’ll try to get my best deal and then make my decision between the Canadian and US service.
Just wondering when negotiating if I should mention that I have a US account and have a good offer from them ?

they will keep your account active and send you an invoice for 3 months of service if you don't have a credit card on file. they wont cancel the account. and if you don't pay they will send it to collections. this is from personal experience as i moved to a different address in the middle of my sub and figured they would cancel it, oh boy was i wrong.

Thanks for the heads up greenshadow. I actually don't have an account with SiriusXM Canada and as far as I know they don't have my home address or email address unless Honda Canada gave it to them when I purchased the new car in December. When I purchased the car all I was told is that I have a 3 free month trial and I thought it would just cancel itself after that time. Then I would hopefully negotiate a a good rate with them.
Maybe I should call them and cancel so I don't get an invoice in 3 months ??
I'm thinking it might be simpler just to add the new car to my US account and take the All Access & streaming for $96 US a year. Probably won't get a better deal in Canada.

Thanks to the posts here, I just saved $$$. I have two radios that I call in to renew every year at around 130$ each (saving 50% off the email quoted price). Today I got 6 months for 36$ each. So if I call back in October and get the same deal I would have saved over half!

Crazy- just give us the best deal and save the hassle. Who is really paying the full price- anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I do the same thing, call them a few days before expiry. I have a lifetime Sirius sub that the ex kept (Booooooo) but it does give me free online listening. BUT they try to charge me for that every g-d year, and I have to call them and reverse the charges.

I have a Premier sub in my car that I always renew for about half of the official price.

And I have a Select radio that is on a 6 month for $30 trial, which will end soon. I will cancel that one if they cannot get it close to that price again. I just don't need that one really.

I've had my new car for almost 7 months now and the 3 month promo is still active with no contact from SiriusXM asking me to subscribe. I'm not complaining so I guess I'll just leave well enough alone...I figure one of these days it will go dead but who knows.
They started calling my daughter after a couple weeks when she bought her new car with the free 3 month promo.

Dave, same thing with my wife's new Outback. She had the free promo for nearly 5 months before they turned off her service.

We've had the new car now 7 months and there has not been any phone calls or offers via Canada Post. When she leased her 2016, they hounded her for a subscription.

My wife's renewal was near $250.

I called in and the best offer was over $180.
I hung up on that person.

Called back and hit cancel.
Within 30 seconds I was offered $99/yr for select plus free streaming.
And I decided to activate my new car and was offered $88/yr.

The 'cancel person' was located in NB and was very helpful.

XM Select Package Price Increased by $1/month

I received this email today:

"Re: Price Increase
We are increasing the price of our primary XM Select package by $1/month from $15.99/month to $16.99/month. The total amount that you pay, including the Music Royalty and Regulatory Fee (MRF), will increase by $1.14/month plus taxes.* The increase will be effective as of September 5, 2018 but only applies to terms that renew on or after that date. With fees and taxes, you will be billed $22.31.
This change will be effective on your next renewal date. Your account will continue to be billed in total and in advance on a recurring basis at the new price of $22.31 including fees and taxes.
You may refuse the price change and cancel the contract without cost by sending SiriusXM a notice no later than 30 days after the price change comes into effect.
Please visit siriusxm.ca/2018rates to review the details of this change and for more information. To cancel your subscription before the price change takes effect, you may call us at 1-866-635-0567.
Thank you for your continued loyalty.
Sincerely,

That is a lot of fees and taxes on top of a very high cost for radio.

In December I bought a used 2011 Hyundai. It had 3 months of Sirius left and then the hounding began. I only use the car now for short trips to shopping and visits to hospital to visit my wife. 15 miles each way. I listen to local phone-in show on AM and local newscasts. Played with Sirius a few times, could not get (I think channel 70 for big band music) with no success. Letters giving better and better deals to renew started coming. Latest letter is 5 months for $20. Sounds like a great deal but not for me. Hounding will keep coming I am sure. sailmaker
