Shaw HD audio sync problems with DCT3416

Hello all.

I am wondering if everyone out there has audio sync issues on Shaw with HD channels.

In my experience, there are certain channels with very good channel sync. Most of the Canadian and U.S. network channels are fine. Some of the worst offenders are History HD, TSN HD. The problem is always the audio coming in late, so the Audio Delay function on many AVR's won't work.

I am using a DCT3416 hooked up through HDMI. Do the newer DCX models fix this? Would Component video with a TOSLINK cable fix it? Is it a problem with the channels themselves?

Thanks.

Lip Sync

I did a little more sleuthing, and I have found out that turning off HDMI Lip Sync on my AVR or my TV mostly fixes the sync issues on the channels that had poor sync before. But it has pushed the sync off a little on the channels that were perfect before, but its only by maybe a frame or 2.

I'm wondering why this is happening. Is there some metadata on some channels that throws off Lip Sync? I normally keep Lip sync on for my blu-rays and such and it seems to work great. Why would some channels not like it? Is it my DCT3416 that might be causing problems? Do the DCX3400 models support lip sync or have an option to turn it off?
