Senators territorial rights expanded?

According to this Ottawa Senators press release, the Senators viewing area on Sportsnet has expanded into Northern Ontario and as far east as Peterborough.

"Sportsnet has great penetration with our expanded carriage in Peterborough and Northern Ontario," said Mlakar. "Plus having our games carried in Western Quebec through Atlantic Canada certainly expands our brand and continues to develop more Sens fans.

"It has been a privilege being carried by Sportsnet since its inception and having double the coverage is great news for Senators viewers for sure."

So does anyone know? Has there been a realignment of the territorial viewing rights? Is there only one Sportsnet channel for those on analogue cable in Peterborough for example? I'm assuming that digital cable would be the same as BEV, carrying all four Sportsnet channels, with capacity to enforce blackouts as required. For instance, those in Peterborough with multiple Sportsnet feeds, would the viewing areas overlap or have the Senators displaced the Leafs? Leaf Fans in those parts of Ontario will hate this if it's the later.

I always thought the Leafs had exclusivity in Ontario (outside of the Eastern Ontario viewing area - roughly a line drawn between Pembroke and Trenton), and were adamant about protecting it.

Maybe it's part of the deal where TSN is allowed to take Leafs games national now. In return the Sens can air their games thoughout Ontario, except for Southern Ontario now. That would make sense. It is just a guess though. It appears 10-12 games per season will still be PPV only.

Leaf games also available in parts of Sens viewing area

Sportsnet has updated it's Media release page. It now appears that the viewing areas are overlapping. 28 Leaf games on Sportsnet will penetrate into parts of the Sens viewing area, and 40 Sens games on Sportsnet will penetrate into parts of the Leafs viewing area.

The Official Broadcaster of the Leafs has expanded its Leafs coverage and is now available in an area spanning from Petawawa in the North to Kingston in the East.

Funny, I always thought LeafsTV was the official broadcaster of the Leafs

Looks like some lucky hockey fans will get both Leafs and Sens on Sportsnet.

If you got them last year, yes. If you didn't, I would suggest you ask your service provider.

If you can get A-Channel (CHRO) or CBC Ottawa, your access to games OTA looks dim. CHRO has been dropped from the list of Senator's broadcast partners on their website, so there hasn't been any games picked up by them (CHRO). So as of today OTA reception is limited to about 10 games on CBC. Unfortunate as I believe the Senators were the last Canadian NHL team to broadcast games locally OTA other than on CBC.

End of an era.

Is anyone else not seeing the games on Sportsnet still? I live in Peterborough and the games on Sportsnet so far have still been blacked out on channel 151 (Sportsnet East). It doesn't bother me really since I have Centre Ice and the games have been on there, but for other people I know don't have Centre Ice they still aren't seeing the games. Does anyone know anything about this?
