Can you swap channels that seem to be offered in bundles only? For example, it seems the "CW" channels are not listed in any of the three new packages but are a part of other bundles.

I also see the three packages include radio stations and it looks like those count as channels when they say how many channels are in the bundle. They seem to also count "lobby" channels.

I am really confused by the FLEX channels. When I go to the "Premier" Ignite TV package it says there are 190 channels with 86 FLEX channels. When I click to view the channels there is an option to view all channels and if I search for a channel, it's there. If I then filter only on "FLEX" channels, I see some of the channels I want are under that grouping. There isn't an option to show "everything except FLEX".

Is it a case that I get 190 channels and I can REMOVE up to 86 of the channels and substitute for the 86 FLEX?

Help! :)

I switched a month ago. I must have had a rotten deal because I am now saving $100 per month. :)

I have seen no issues with picture quality. Excellent quality. I have not seen any pixelation. There is the odd studder / micro buffer but nothing annoying. There is one exception I’ll mention further down.

No communication issues with WiFi in the house. Everything has been great. I work from home so I am constantly using WiFi.

Responsiveness of the system is generally great. Previously I had NextBox 2 and 3 and anything recorded on the 2 but watched on the 3 was difficult due to speed / delays. I have really not seen any of that. There is a slight delay as a channel is loaded so if you are trying to speed flip through channels, its definitely not as nice as in the old days. However, I generally use the Guide. FF/RWD takes a little getting used to becasuse the timing is different. I’m still trying to perfect it but its not terrible.

I have seen no choppy playback with one exception and that was the night of the December Survivor finale. I was watching it ‘delayed’ to avoid commercials. For the first 40 minutes everything was fine and then major studders started to happen and eventually playback failed. What happened next was a nice treat - it dumped me out to a ‘live’ Rogers On Demand feed of the same show that had commercials in it but I was able to fast forward. Once I was watching it there, it was perfect - no glitches at all.

Yes, you can start watching an active recording. You can also watch some shows from the beginning that you did not record. I’m not sure what the pattern is for this but many shows have an option to start playback from the beginning. It seems like its the popular channels / shows but I can’t be sure of that.

I had no issues changing my flex channels on my laptop. I don’t think you can do it on an iPad/phone.

Overall, the Guide is awesome - way better than the old one. I love that I can watch my recordings on my iPad or my phone or a computer. No need for a TV in every room.

The only two things I miss: Home Phone calls - you cannot send them to voice mail. I used to record the same show on East and West coast to account for interruptions and that is not possible now because the system seems to only let you record one instance of the same program.

I just signed up for Ignite. Installation (free) is Saturday.

One thing I am curious about is the PG. The listings in Navigtr are often inaccurate especially the 'New' indicator. Are the Ignite listings any better?

I have not had any issues with the new guide. It is MUCH better and includes season numbers and episode numbers.

I am using the “NEW” option but never used it before since I couldn’t trust it.

@velocci

There is a network jack on the TV box. I don't use it, but I assume it works. The main gateway only has two outputs (neither used in my home).

In my house, the technician connected the main phone line to the gateway. All jacks have service. The only thing lost is if you have two distinct lines.

I can't answer about the audio.

The Ignite modem has two phone jacks so you should be able to have two different phone numbers.
The device might support two phone lines but Rogers will not allow it. When I tried to get Ignite my account was flagged as a problem and I had to move my second line from Rogers Home Phone service to a mobile-to-landline service (I have a cellular modem in my house that has a traditional phone jack).

I opted to go with their wifi and everything is great. I suspect they are treating you like you are outside the house. Things should work but there are limits on channels and you might have issues watching something live that you are recording.

I assume you mean MBPS in your speeds. I average around 75 Mbps in speed tests. My installer seemed very knowledgeable and said if he installed the pods any wireless connection would be limited to a max of 100 Mbps. If you turn off the pods you can get more but it will vary by location alot more. I haven't had any issues with speed so haven't turned off my pods.

Installer said the pods and gateway adjust themselves over 24 hours. No idea if that is true.

They have to register the hardware to your account and check signal strength. In my case, they said the signal was too strong and they had to back it off (outside the house).

As for more than 2 boxes, I can’t see that being an issue but if you have 5 boxes all streaming at the same time, it might cause bandwidth problems.
