as of right now, yes.

there is no process, as of now, where a tech can check it out to see if it works and install it.

the qualification process takes into account future loading on the cable as well, and addition upgrades on the line. Having additional lines at 19.2 when, in theory, they shouldnt be could cause future service issues on that cable with crosstalk etc.

15M Media Room launched yesterday

From what I was told yesterday and a couple evenings ago they launched a new version of Media Room that will work with the 15M lines but with reduced capacity. They said it just reduced the number of HD streams that could come to the box. A tech came to our house a couple months ago to replace the old 2 Wire modem that had failed and told me they were trialing the software. Then, on my call with tech support Tuesday night I was told about yesterday's launch of the new software.

After I was told by the CSR yesterday about having to pay an extra $10/month I called tech support again about the PVR rebooting on its own. The support tech told me that Telus is doing away with Minerva completely and at some point (unknown when) everyone will have to go to Media Room. He passed me to the retention department who processed the upgrade with no additional charge per month based on the tech's assessment that the problem I am having can't be fixed without upgrading.

I'm scheduled to have the upgrade next Thursday.

15M Mediaroom is 1 HD / 2 SD Streams.
19M Mediaroom is 2 HD / 1 SD Streams.

Both profiles are available depending on what you qualify for. VDSL2 will offer even greater options in the coming months.

Hi ttvguy,

Could you please elaborate on what did you mean by VDSL2 will offer even greater options? Did you mean that VDSL2 can potentially do for example 3HD or something like that in the future? Thanks.

I was on the phone with Telus yesterday and the rep said that the faster VDSL2+ speeds will be rolling out where I live (downtown Vancouver) in July.

Not able to elaborate to specifics but since VDSL2 offers more bandwidth I'm sure you can extrapolate that it will allow for things that require that.
