I moved my Telus PVR & now all I get is initialization failure

So I moved my Pvr from one room to another and now I get initialization failure when ever I power up the box.

I have 3 boxes 2 of which are fed through coaxial and one through Cad 5 directly to the network hub.

I moved the Cad5 one to a coaxial connection in another room and use a coaxial cable to the crt tv. At first I received no connection then after doing the power cycling problem solve. I got the the box to go through initialization but it fails every time.

As stated I have done the power cycling problem solve, the soft reset and changed all my cables and connectors including the one behind the cable plate and I still get the same result.

I can't really afford to pay the 100 dollars to have the tech come to my place to try to fix my problem and I was hoping someone on here can help me. Hopefully there is some simple trick I am missing.

Thank you
Ryan

So the ADSL modem/router didn't move. You just swapped the PVR with one of the HD boxes? That means that the box that was fed by cat5 is now fed by coax in its new location and the one that was fed by coax is now fed by cat 5. That shouldn't be a problem. Are you certain that you connected the box that is fed by coax to proper connector on the box? There is a video in and a video out connector on each box.

If you get initialization error than the box in question is not connecting with the modem.

first see if the green link light comes on when you connect the pvr. If the link light isn't on the box it's not connected to the network.

Telus techs do not hook up all the feeds in a house as standard. Only the ones that feed designated Tv's. We minimize packet loss by eliminating 'bridgetaps' (or unused coax runs) to increase quality of service.

So if your attempting to use a coax point that never had TV connected to it it probably wont work. Sorry!

thank you all for ur input, I can use all the help I can get.

So yes the modem and router are still connected. Phone line to modem, cad 5 to router, router to RG6 wall jack&cad 5 network cables.

There is no PVR connected to the router now. They are all on coaxial lines now. I moved the one PVR that was on the router to a coaxial line and that is the one that does not work.

When I first plug in the PVR all 3 lights are on including the link and stay on but give no output to the CRT TV. then when I unplug a few times it goes into the load followed but the initialization screen and then I get the the error. The only light that is on at this point is the power light. I was under the impression when the signal get sent through the coaxial from the router it feeds all the other wall coaxial as long as they are connected via the Shaw box outside. I didn't know Telus could access the cable box I guess I better check that. Sadly if the coaxial line is disconnected I SOL.

Thanks everyone

That is indeed correct. Telus will only activate the runs in use and not every jack. You can get them to hook it up but they will charge you $100 for a truck roll.

If its feasible and your handy you could always just get an extra long cat5 cable. There also not too difficult to make and home depot have kits.
