Same here. Hopefully they fixed the most annoying bugs - audio loss on skip back and crash on delete.

Unfortunately no firmware update can fix the hard drive failure rate of 100% within 2 years.

 

I have four 830's and have had one hard drive failure, maybe 3,4 years ago. My wife often has her two 830's at 99%+ full. It was hers that failed. But I have no complaints there.

I think the audio loss is still there.

We have 5 830s and have had 8 hard drive failures since we received them new from SD in May 2023. None of them has ever been more than 50% full, they don't last long enough to fill up. I no longer request replacements, instead I keep a spare 1TB SSD on hand to swap in when the inevitable happens.

Your 830s are apparently several years older than ours. What model hard drive do they run?

Shaw Direct promotes the PVR on their website as part of the service packages. That seems like false advertising. It also sounds like more typical Rogers BS to make customers pay more for less.

 

Their position is that all SD customers pay the same rates regardless of whether their receivers are PVR capable, advertising notwithstanding.
