Its a Xmas miracle!!
After firmware update my xbox and ps3 can now communicate properly with my computer!! Was thinking of doing that bridge thing u guys all talk about but now don't need to. Giddy-up.

The DS/US/Online flashing lights indicate your internet connection is going down. This often has to do with a cable wiring problem (such as loose/bent coax, faulty splitters, etc.) If your connection is going out on a regular basis, you should schedule a service call.

The ethernet ports have no effect on the DS/US/Online lights, and will not knock the modem offline. If you're in bridged mode, you can only use one (or maybe 2) of the modem's ethernet ports at a time, such as to connect your own router or to connect to certain VPNs.

I lose connection once every hour. This has been happening the past 24 hrs. Im thinkng its the modem/router or telus issue. :(

Once again my Cisco modem has become possessed and is losing connection constantly. Here is a video illustrating what happens, please fast forward to 0:30 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8Uh8E8Y8a8

EDIT: Update, swapped modems today and got the same modem except new in the box, the employee's at the counter said the modem I just traded in wasn't even on the account and I shouldn't even of been able to connect to the internet. Called Shaw when I got home for bridge mode and tech support stated the old modem was and still is on my account so he apparently got my internet working top notch shape, also said my modem was receiving a bad frequency on Shaw's end and that could have been causing my problems.

I have set up a set of dlink cameras as a security system to an ftp server in my unit. I can access the server locally but my not from outside. I have a dlink router that handles the cameras connected to the rogers cisco modem/router and an access point. I am trying to keep the cameras recording even if rogers goes down but with the cisco modem in place I am not able to connect to the server from outside the network. I bridged the modem. Can anyone help or do I need a modem only to have this configuration.

Airport Express and dpc3825

Hope someone can help. I'm trying to get my Apple Airport Express (1st gen) to work for airplay to my speakers. I'm using the dpc3825 for wifi. I had this setup working in my last place, but only using wep; I could never get the airport to connect using wpa2. I'm now in a dense, downtown neighbourhood, and I'd really rather use wpa. The prolem is, I can't get the airport to connect to the cisco wirelessly. I've tried hard-wiring it, but I haven't had any luck... I'm not really sure how I need to set up the airport for that configuration... the wizard wants to either add a new wifi network or extend, and I'm not sure which I should pick, but nothing seems to work.

Vague, I know, but I've spent so much time on this and tried so many things I'm incoherent.

Thanks...
Perry.

The linked security advisory indicates that Cisco has already patched this vulnerability. Shaw may already have deployed the patch, or be in the process of testing it. Overall, the security exposure would be minimal because (a) modems usually receive 10-net WAN IPs, inaccessible from the public internet, (b) the vulnerability is not being publicly exploited at this time - it is only "proof-of-concept", and (c) the vulnerability has already been patched.
