Can't pause or rewind live TV

Sorry if this has been discussed already but did a search and couldn't find anything.

Not sure if I'm imagining this but at one time I was able to pause and rewind live broadcasts. Now it this doesn't work anymore.

I'm trying to determine if this is now normal behaviour or if its a problem with my PVR (SA 8000HD) or remote (Harmony One).

Any help is appreciated...
Thanks

I have this problem, as well as everyone at Videotron, I guess. It is has been discussed on other forums I visit. It appears to be a bug in the current firmware and will be fixed in the next firmware available "soon".
The bug should only occur if you don't change the channel after turning on the unit. If you change the channel, then switch back, you should be able to pause and rewind from this point on.
The workaround I use it to configure the PVR to turn on on channel 1. Clumsy, but it works...

Cheers, and please report back if this describes your problem!

Yes...this is exactly what's happening.

I was watching a program and it was nearing the end and wanted to read the credits so I switched channels and returned so that it records only the last few minutes instead of the entire hour. Recorded those last few minutes and replayed it so that I can pause at the point I wanted to and then erased it.

Lo and behold...the pause and rewind feature then started working on that channel from that point on. Switched to another channel and didn't work there...only on the channel I recorded the credits. Real odd and sure seems to behave like a bug.

57...yes I always do a cold reboot as those will somtimes fix these problems.

Rookie...you're right, I do have a lot of recordings but they are mostly SD and I don't think its anywhere near half-full but I'll check it just the same.

My initial thought was that it was a bug in the firmware.

thanks to you all for your suggestions!

I had the same problem back in January. Exactly 4 days after the warranty on my PVR expired, as the Videotron tech was very happy to tell me. I ended up replacing the hard drive with a bigger one and things are working ok now.

You can find the instructions on how to do so elsewhere in this forum
