There has been a lot of discussion on the 92XX regarding installation; so much so that I've decided to put together this thread. Now, let me start off by saying that I haven't installed a 92XX myself; most of this info has come through my own research and reading online. If you find anything I've put in here to be in error, please let me know so I can make the appropriate corrections. As well, keep in mind these installation instructions are geared towards those of you familliar with the basics of installing satellite dishes.

First commonly asked question is if it can be hooked up using only one of the tuners. The answer to that is no. If you try to do so, you will run into problems. The bottom line is you have to use both inputs on the 92XX for it to function correctly.

Example #1- Installing a 92XX using only 1 cable.
To do this, you will need the following items. A Dish Pro Plus (DPP) Twin LNB, and a DPP Seperator.

You connect 1 RG6 cable to the DPP Twin LNB, run it into the house, and then use the DPP Seperator to seperate the signals into the 2 inputs of the 92XX. Your connection will look like this:

Now, some people have asked if they can install 2-92XX's in the same house? The answer is yes. Using one more seperator, you can use the extra connection on the DPP Twin LNB and connect them both.

Please note that the 2nd receiver in this example can be any other type of receiver; new or old (Legacy.) DPP will support either. Of course with a single tuner receiver you will not need the seperator on that one.

RG6 is the preferred cable type to use for all satellite installations, please see following links for more details

Well DP technology works with my 6100, 5900 and later this week I will tell you how the 3100 handles it, also hopefully early next month I will tell you how the 9200 handles it and the DPP Separator ;). FYI I have a DPP-Twin LNB and the DPP44 switch hooked up and the DPP separator waiting in my desk!

I assume you meant to say DPP, right?

(Don't you just love how they couldn't come up with a different sounding name?) :)

You have any good places who ship to canada via canada post?
Well I ordered my Dpp-Twin and DPP separator from www.dishstore.net and they shipped via Canada Post. You have to put a comment in your order to ship via the post office. I believe there was a couple $ extra charge to do this though. The DPP-Twin is $29.99 USD and the DPP separator is 9.99 USD.

I bought DPP44 switch off Ebay and I believe I paid under $100 USD, they sell at the above mentioned site for $178 USD.

I'm a little confused if just 2 components...the DPP seperator and the DPP Dual LBNF are needed to take a single feed line and split it to the dual tuners of the 9200.

According to the Dishstore.net site....you also need the DPP 44 switch or the above setup will not work !

The below is quoted from that site.= :
"DO NOT ORDER THIS PART IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A DISH PRO PLUS 44 SWITCH. IT WILL NOT WORK WITH A STANDARD DISH PRO TWIN LNB

If you only have 1 receiver...a 9200...and only can get 1 cable to it...which setup is 100% sure to work..?....the LBNF+seperator or the DPP 44 switch+LBNF+seperator?

I need a definite answer ..as the DPP 44 switch is around $100..too much for my budget!

Thanks!

Right, and that's why we said to get a Dish Pro Plus, and not a standard Dish Pro LNB.

(and the reason for this thread, these different terms can be very confusing.) :D

From there site.

Dishpro Plus Seperator $9.99

When used with the Dishpro Plus 44 Switch, or Dishpro Plus Twin this product will allow you to run a Duel Tuner Receiver such as a 322, 522, 721 or 921 with a single Coaxial Cable.

DO NOT ORDER THIS PART IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A DISH PRO PLUS 44 SWITCH. IT WILL NOT WORK WITH A STANDARD DISH PRO TWIN LNB.

It should say:

DO NOT ORDER THIS PART IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A DISH PRO PLUS 44 SWITCH or a Dish Pro Plus Twin LNB. IT WILL NOT WORK WITH A STANDARD DISH PRO TWIN LNB.

:D HUGE THANK YOU GUYS ON A QUICK ANSWER...!

And as someone mentioned...the terms are confusing!..but my reading/comprehension skills need some work too!

Thanks again

Okay, current starchoice customer here. I have a a quad LNB and 4 cables from that, two directly into my DSR530 and two into two separate single tuner STB's. Is there no similar configuration from BELL that would work the same way (i.e. no switch required?). I'm thinking about changing to EVU and need to firm up all the details of doing so.

That's exactly what option #2 in post #2 is. The switch is built into the quad LNB - it's completely transparent to the end user. The average person wouldn't even know it's there if they had it installed for them. That's exactly the same as your StarChoice solution.

Ooh sorry, don't know how I missed that! I read through this thread with great interest too..

My setup is the folowing

1 DishPro Twin LNBF hooked to 1 DP34, this DP34 is hooked to another DP34 so I have 4 output left, can I take 2 output of the DP34 and put them into each input of the 9200? I think it will work since the 6100 is a Dishproplus receiver and it works fine now hooked the same way via a DP34

#43 ·
Yes, that will work Haryi99Si.

Anybody who has 2 outputs left on their switch and/or Quad LNB and is able to run 2 lines to the receiver will be fine. The main reason for this thread is for those who either cannot run 2 lines, or are running out of room on their switches.

Not that I am discouraging discussion or questions, of course. :D

BD- the legacy hardware will work fine with the newer receivers as well as the older ones. Just to summarize:

Legacy- works will all recivers; Dish Pro and Lecacy- allows 100 foot cable runs
Dish Pro- works only with Dish Pro receivers- allows 200 foot cable runs
Dish Pro Plus- works with legacy as long as there is also a Dish Pro receiver in the mix- allows for 200 foot cable runs and allows for seperators.
Thanks Ken! Good to know that my little investment is not wasted.

I currently have a pretty standard BEV setup with a 6100 and 3100 and 2 SW21 feeding 2 cables into the house. I picked up a RCA CVHD6520 multiswitch cheap. Can I run the 2 cables coming into the house into this, then run 2 cables into the 9200 and one each into the 6100 and 3100? Is there a limit to how far the CVHD6520 can be from the dish?

Thanks

#46 ·
I don't understand how you guys know that the DPP Twin LNB and the separator will work with a BEV receiver. In the manual and the description of the Dish Pro Plus LNBF it clearly says that this product requires the right software to be downloaded onto the receiver. Up to this moment I haven't seen any indication that BEV will release software support for any kind of Dish Pro or Dish pro Plus hardware. Theoretically it may never support them, so everything described in this thread here will be a waste of time and money.
Am I missing anything? Did Bell officially announce they will support Dish Pro Plus?

Arthur:

DPP support is in the firmware of the reciever when you get it. BEV would have to specifically pull out the code in their firmware for DPP support. They have the support in the 6100 and the 5900 that I know of, so why would they pull it from the 9200?

Hello all,

I'll repost an earlier question in this more relevant thread.

Does anyone know if I can get a working 9200 system with three (not four) cables coming from the dish into a SW44? If so, would there be a specific way to arrange them?

I ask as I had three cables run through the wall in my new house, trying to anticipate future needs (D'oh!!!).

Putting the SW44 outside with the dish and running four inputs/three outputs is apparently not feasible (weatherproofing ). If three inputs won't work, could I split one before the SW44?

Thanks in advance, and apologies for the repost for those who already saw my earlier query.
