I currently have one wire, without a DPP in place, running to the 9200. I have one other port from the SW44 running to the 6100 and another wire running to the 5900. The fourth receiver connector on the SW44 is not connected to anything right now. Is this not possible? As soon as I turn on the 6100, the 9200 jumps to the screen saver and looses signal.

I'm not sure if I am brain dead but I don't understand why I still need to run two wires to the 9200 if I use the DPP? Or are you saying since I don't have the DPP, I need to have both inputs on the 9200 hooked up? Do you think that is why the 9200 dies when I turn on the 6100??

 

I'm doing my dish install tomorrow. I have a quick question regarding
look angle.

For Calgary:
The Bell manual says:
Compass direction: 129.2
Elevation: 26.1
Skew: 69.7

The Kusat.com Look Angle calculator says:
Compass direction: 125.6 (approx. after true N./mag N. correction)
Elevation: 25.9
Skew:71.7

My question is whether anyone has tried both of these settings and
which one delivers better signal strength.

 

When using the SW44, if input 1A is connected to SAT 82 and 1B is on SAT91, does it matter if 2A is connected to SAT 91? Or do both A's and B's have to be the same?

I've been lurking around here for awhile now and I have a question concerning the DPP twin LNB. I currently have a 5100 and 3100, both are connected to an 18" bell dish and a 1 dual LNB. One cable from the LNB goes to each receiver. Now I want to get a 9200 and was wondering if getting a DPP twin LNB is what I need? The DPP twin only has 3 connections. Does each connection tune in both sats 91 and 82? If so does that mean I can connect 3 recievers?

I have 2 RG6 cables that come in the house and really can't add more line into the house because of a finished basement. What might be the best way to install the 9200 and say the 5100 and\or the 3100? I will most likely be selling one of them.

The DPP twin feeds to cables into your house and the third is unused (it is used for hooking up a 3rd lnb for a 3rd satellite). I could be wrong, but I think you will to add a DPP44 switch and a separator to your setup. My setup is similar to yours. I have a 9200, 5100 and a 6100 and a 3100. Currently I am only able to hook up the 9200 and the 5100 because I am waiting for delivery of the DPP44 which will enable me to add more receivers. So now I have one lnb feeding the 5100 and one lnb connected to the separator at the back of the 9200, and two cables from the separator to feed both inputs on the 9200. When I receive the DPP44 I will be able to hook up the rest of my receivers. In your case, if you decide to only keep the 9200 and one of the other receivers, you will not need the DPP44 switch. Just pick up the DPP Twin LNB and a separator on eBay and you are set! If you like I will PM you the name of the eBay store where I picked up the DPP Twin and Separator sold together.

Yes the issue is you do not have 2 wires running to the 9200. You have to run another cable from the extra output of the sw44 to the 9200.

The DPP twin lnb will make it worse for you unless you either:

a) get the dpp44 switch

b) keep the 9200 and only 1 other receiver.

Try to keep in mind the twin lnb is exactly what it is. A TWIN. Which means only 2 lines. The difference between a DPP and DP is the plus can use separators for dual receivers.

Ok, problem has been solved. When running the four wires from the Dish 500 Quad, make sure that 1a and 1b on the SW44 are both connected to SAT 91. I had 1A on SAT 91, 1b on SAT 82 and the same for 2a an 2b. In otherwords, read the SW44 manual that comes with the switch! This caused a lot of issues. I now have both inputs hooked up and everything is great. PIP working flawlessly!

 

Quick easy one here for the experts...

A 9200 will be replacing a new-ish 5900 with the skew-adjustable 20" dish.

I've got an old stacked quad LNB I formerly used with an old 4700 rcvr. Can I use that quad LNB (don't know if it's a Legacy model...) for the 9200 and simply run 2 lines in, negating the use of the SW44 altogether??

If so, how long do these LNBs last anyway?? It's gotta be about 6yrs old...

I'd like to eliminate the SW44 becuz I'd need to run 4 long lines to it from the dish, since ideally it should be located inside the house. Thanks in advance!

 

yes enzo. you can use the quad with just 2 lines out into the 9200. Doesnt matter that it is a legacy.

Just replace the two SW21's with the provided SW44. Refer to option 3 in post #3 of this thread.

I am just trying to cut down on the number of cables I need to run into my house. Right now I just have 1 and I could add another one. But 4 or possibly 5 (from power supply might not be an option).

I have a question (don't we all). I have the 9200, installed the SW44 outside and powered it up inside. I have a 5800 running on it as well and it works great with the SW44 (I was using two SW21 switches before). I have one wire running to the 9200 and am using a splitter to get the two inputs for now (I have a DPP Separator being shipped to me at the moment). I can only use the Component outputs on the 9200, not the DVI. The DVI worked initially, but now only the Component outputs work. Is this because the DPP Separator is not installed yet? Hopefully it works when I put the Separator on or else it is back to Bell World for an exchange (Also one of the inputs always has signal problems, but I am 99% sure that is the splitter causing the problem).

Intriguing (but not surprising) that there's a discrepancy between the 9200 manual and the "Installation Guide" for the SW44. Here's a quote from the guide itself:

You may install the SW44 switch outside your building, because this device is made for use outside.

 

Well...I have had the SW44 switch installed for about a year now...and when I got it...I had to make an elaborate mounting on the inside wall...install a plug and since then everything has worked fine...

Then...the cat jumped on the mounting...unplugged from the wall...and surprise/surprise...(works better in a Gomer Pyle voice)...it still worked without power...was I pissed that I didn't test it first...I mean I did plug it back in...on the chance that it would only work for a little while without power...but...

Anybody else not using power with the SW44...

You should be having problems. THat is not the way to do it. If the 9200 is working then you can't have dual capability. You can't use regular splitters.

the separator will not work with any legacy (SW) or Dish Pro.

You will either need a DPP twin lnb or

a DP or DPP lnb and a DPP44 switch.

I hate shopping on eBay (have to wait too long to get stuff) and, regardless, currently the pickings are slim there as it is for DPP stuff.

I have my SW44 mounted outside the house, and haven't had any issue with it for 2+ years now. The power supply issue isn't really an issue because it can easily be inside the house near where your receivers (or wherever you like).
Power is delivered to the switch via the RG6 cable into the receiver 1 output; the power thingy (forgive the tech talk) goes in-line between the switch and the receiver....so you can put it wherever you like.

You can not use the DPP Separator with the SW44, they are not compatible. Also a splitter is not going to work in feeding both receivers, they both need their own independant feeds. The only ways around this for you would be to get a DPP-Twin along with the DPP separator.

No, there is a power inserter with cable that goes to port one. The power supply plugs into the inserter.
