This week comes an announcement from Telus that it too would be developing a new show exploring the world a smartphone and tablet applications.
Produced by Vancouver based Blink Media Works, AppTV will be a weekly 30 minute show hosted by Mike Agerbo and Maryam Mehrtash. Highlights of each episode will include a weekly countdown of the top apps, help on how to use some of the most popular smartphone apps and various tips and tricks for smartphone usage.
"Apps have exploded," said host, Maryam Mehrtash. "They're everywhere - Canada has the highest penetration of smartphones in the world and is the fourth largest market on Facebook. There were 17 million tablets sold worldwide and sales are expected to increase more than 400% by 2012. Our mission is to test the numerous apps produced each day and inform audiences on which ones are fun and useful and which ones not to waste time or money on."
AppTV will launch on April 2, 2011 on The Cave, followed by airings on CHEK TV, and SUN TV. The Cave, owned by Groupe TVA and Shaw Media, is an English language digital cable specialty channel formerly known as MenTV.
Once again, Digital Home is surprised there is no App for AppTV.
