I could potentially get the Pioneer for $20-30 less. I'm on a strict budget since I basically bought a TV,PS3 and the speakers in 2 weeks> time.

Can anyone convince me to get the Yamaha/Pioneer?

I'm just in need of a simple set up. This is basically my on a budget home theatre:

LG PK550 - PS3 slim - Athena Micra 6 - _______

Thanks in advance!

What do you see as the difference between the two models?

These are entry level receivers from well known brands so performance will be similar. Identify the differences and you'll likely decide for yourself.

Actually, I've been considering the Pioneer more because it offers more audio capabilities + I don't have to worry about upgrading down the road. It had more than what to offer to me.

I also thought of the Yamaha for practicality as well.

Thanks Interceptor, I'll consider the Onkyo as well.

I might have to hold off on this purchase until I really see an excellent deal. I can get the 520K for $200 shipped to a US address but I'm iffy about the warranty situation. Way too many ebay sellers claiming you can get Pioneer warranty on the receiver that they are selling but they are NOT authorized resellers = warranty is not applicable. Those shady Americans, tsk tsk.
