It seems like only yesterday we were watching Steve Jobs reveal the second iPad and wondering how Android tablet manufacturers would react (actually, it was yesterday). Now we have news that the Wi-Fi-only version of the Motorola XOOM will be priced at $539 at Sam’s Club.

Competition. Love it!

I wouldn't call it a price drop yet. First of all we haven't had an official MSRP so there's nothing to drop from, and secondly this might be a sale price of some sort. That said, I think it would be very competitive at that price point. I'd be tempted by a wifi only Xoom if they were available for $550 CAD or less here.

Yes, competition is great. One of the reasons why i supported two next gen home video formats. This is no different. More options, more often, better pricing.

Also Sam's Club is a wholesale store. I wouldn't count this as a real price drop for the Xoom.

To TorontoColins point though, is this a price drop or just the going out price? Has the Wi-fi only version sold anywhere let alone at a higher price?

It doesn't even have an official release date let alone an MSRP. It should be very soon though.

Hugh, saw you mention in another thread Xoom is out. Is it avaialble in Canada already? Can anyone tell me of a retailer here in Montreal I can go check one out?
