It may work, but realize that by going "through" the TV, you may lose DD5.1, or the audio signal completely. See the following FAQ - bolding:

Can you connect the media player via optical (or coaxial audio) directly to the AVR and choose optical output?

There should be no conflict. Sorry, I was not aware the media player was part of the TV.
