CBC Sports and Rogers Sportsnet announced last week that the two networks will join forces in June to broadcast every match of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup of soccer.

The competition begins Sunday, June 26, with Canada opening the tournament against host Germany, and ends with the final on June 17th.

The partnership will see CBC air all matches involving Canada, including three of four quarterfinals, the semi-final, bronze and gold medal matches, all live. Rogers Sportsnet will air one quarterfinal match live, while also providing encore broadcasts of the quarterfinal, semi-final, bronze and gold medal matches. Additionally, in the early rounds, Rogers Sportsnet will provide live coverage of matches not involving Canada. The network will also produce nightly wrap-up shows. Under the agreement, Rogers Communications will also have rights to wireless and video-on-demand content.

CBC Sports will produce the match broadcasts, using on-air personalities from both networks.
