I was wondering if anyone knows what generation the chipset is for this board as I understand that 5 or 6 is the the best and most current?
TIA

I use this card for ATSC viewing with Win MCE and get dropouts now and then, albeit from fringe US stations using an indoor antenna. Is their a better 6th generation Hauppauge card, or one from a different vendor that is more reliable for ATSC?
TIA

Another way to put it, based on your rough location: at my in-laws home near Yonge and Lawrence, their Samsung 24" TV tunes just slightly less-good than my 950Q USB stick, using the exact same antenna.

The only differences I've noted thus far, is the 950Q could pull in Rochester stations on a morning when the Samsung TV could not, and Ion is slightly better with the 950Q as well (when it comes in at all).

And Samsung TV's have excellent tuners. :)

I have/had 4 HVR-1600 and the ATSC tuners in them are all crap. I mean the worst ATSC tuner cards among my half dozen other ones.

HVR-1250 is king. It is actually better than my 950Qs (at my location anyways)

1600 is just ridiculously bad at my place for some reasons. I don't think 4/4 bad is a fluke.

Interesting. perhaps I'll try the 1250 though I am looking for an external one to use with our laptop for testing in different locations. Thx for the input.
