The CD arrived today. After loading it and applying the updates it works great on my iPad.
I still need to test it on the iPod, Mac and PC, but so far it looks great and allows full remote control. (set up & edit record schedule, watch previously recorded shows, and change quality settings.)

I will post screen shots tomorrow.

Observations:
Works well on the iPad. Max bitrate is 1024 kbps so quality is not razor sharp, but acceptable when full screen. This is through wifi on my home network. Have not tried setting it up to stream through the internet. (I want to keep my bandwidth for Netflix!)

Have not tested on iPod Touch, but will later today.
On the PC, the quality is OK. Would be nice if bitrate could be more than 1024 kbps.

For me, it does exactly what I want it to do, and is a great value for $12.

Install Note:
Do not install off the CD. Download the WinTV Extend update, put the CD in the drive, and run the update. It will "look" at the cd to makesure you have a 7.2 CD and install the letest version.

I have a chronic buffering issue with Wintv extend 7.2

It plays fine for 55 seconds, then i get three to five seconds of buffering, and then it plays again for 55 seconds.

This is regardless of the transmission speed, or on a wired or wireless connection.

My server is an Intel core 2 duo with 2 GB ram running vista on a GB internet connection or a wireless N network.

PCs, laptops or iphone all the same issue..

any ideas?

ahh man i was hoping the quality would be a bit better. still for 12 bucks who cares! it will be fun to play with. I may try something stronger down the road however.
What device are you viewing it on?
Have you gone to settings and maxed the bit rate to 1024 kbps? The default is about around 480 kbps.

I would contact support:

When I had a scheduler problem, they got back to me the next day and it resolved the problem.

I had to reinstall everything i was getting a wack of VB errors. It now seems to be up and running, the test for the local connection passes and I get promted for pin. That is where 'working' stops. All I get is a spinning play button.

UPDATE: It looks like there was an issue due to having only 1 channel. I did a channel scan and it picked up the second one and now it works. Playing with it now...

It is working but doesn't work like I was hoping. I was hoping multiple people could connect to the stream at the same time. It worked once but hasn't again. I guess I will have to look at other flash encode options to accommodate that. At least this will do part of what I want.

What part are you talking about? an actual capture card talking to the Telus HD box or are you talking about the WinTV extend features being able to traverse the Telus router /firewall box?

BTW... I'm using WinTV w/ extend for Over the Air content not from cable or sat.

I don't have any experience w/ the Telus gear however I'm sure it is similar to other off the shelf stuff. Meaning it has the ability to do port fwd and things like that.
