Wind is now offering a way to import your contacts when you port your number over. It looks like existing users can use it to import contacts from other mail clients to their Wind Phones.
* 1. Register for a no-charge trial account.
* 2. Import contacts from your existing Yahoo!® Mail, Gmail™, Windows Live Hotmail™, Microsoft® Outlook® and Facebook®.
* 3. Manage your contacts on a simple Web screen - add, edit, delete and merge contacts so they are just how you want them.
* 4. Copy your contacts to your new WIND mobile phone.

Who trusts Wind with the personal information of all their friends and colleagues? There are other ways of moving/backin up contact information that don't involve handing it all over to a third party.

I don't understand what the big deal is, who really cares that this information is on their website.

There are other ways, but not something this simple and easy to do for people who are not so technology savvy. I think it is a great idea

You'd trust them with your own personal information...Isn't that more important than that of your friends? In any case it's a nice value add if nothing else.
