Wind Mobile announced on its corporate blog today it is now offering Pay as you go wireless service.
Consumers will be able to make 25 cents per minute when calling from anywhere in Canada and the U.S. to anywhere in Canada. Texting in Canada and the U.S. will cost you 15 cents a text and data cost ten cents per 25kb.
In order to use the service, you'll need to buy a phone from Wind Mobile and add cash to a Wind Mobile Pay Before account. How long the cash in your account is good for depends on how much cash you put into the account. Put in $10 and you'll be able to make calls for up to 30 days or whenever your balance runs out. Put in $100 and you'll be able to make calls for up to one year from your top up date or whenever your balance runs out.
Pay as you go customers can increase their balance by using top up cards which are available at a variety of retailers or using your credit card.
