WIND Mobile experienced its strongest year of growth in Canada since joining the wireless provider fray in 2008.

It grew its subscriber base by 47 percent year over year and now serves 590,438 wireless customers. In fact, almost 80,000 subscribers were added during the fourth quarter of 2012, with more than 70 percent of those additions postpaid customers.

Wind also reports that it has expanded its distribution footprint to include 335 branded point-of-sale locations across Canada.

Pietro Cordova, Chief Operating Officer of WIND Mobile, adds: "It was a banner year for us - our strategy to develop our postpaid customer base is clearly working... 2013 is going to be an exciting year for the Canadian telecommunication market in general and for WIND Mobile in particular. We are continuing to improve our network across the country and are focused on delivering the best value for money proposition."

Introducing new handsets in 2012 such as the Samsung Galaxy SIII, Galaxy Note II, LG Optimus 4x, SONY Xperia ION and the Huawei D-Quad helped boost sales in the fourth quarter, as did expanding its network to include Peterborough and Windsor, increasing overall reach to 14 million nationally.
