About 5 minutes ago Wind Mobile corporate sent an SMS text announcing:

Great news! Your Vancouver WIND Zone has extended its coverage to Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and Whistler.

That's a +1 to my future trip to Whistler. Cell service!

What is the orange area? Why does there appear to be a hole around Port Moody?

The dark orange area is the WIND Zone with 3G or 3.5G coverage. The orange area is where you can likely expect WIND Zone 3G or maybe 3.5G coverage, but still not officially so no guarantees. The beige area is where coverage is 2G or 2.5G GSM and not in the WIND Zone.

Areas like Port Moody just haven't been properly strung yet.

Also, wind only publishes coverage when it's up 100%.
While Moody may seem to be lacking, there could very well be coverage there, just not completed their array of tests before making it official.

They need to expand to greater Victoria, as well....

Victoria is on tap for this year. It was supposed to be last year, but it was delayed after difficulties finding locations for towers.
