This week, WIND Mobile, which has just been taken over by Shaw media, announced new network improvements will be arriving in the Greater Vancouver Area.

According to WIND, “New, more powerful equipment along with recently acquired new wireless spectrum will provide noticeably better service across the region.”

The improvements will bring faster data speeds, better call clarity and fewer dropped calls in and around Greater Vancouver.

The Vancouver area is the first to receive network improvements that the alternative mobile company has committed to bringing to customers across the country.

Continued improvements will take shape across the Greater Vancouver Area well into January for WIND mobile users.

Calgary-based Shaw recently made a deal to take over Wind and its customer base of almost a million people for $1.6 billion.

The company says it will acquire the country's fourth-largest mobile operator pending a number of regulatory approvals, including the Competition Bureau and the Ministry of Innovation, Science & Economic Development.
