I think Colin summed it up pretty good. An inside deal was leaked and nobody should be surprised that it was.

On another note, I can buy MS Office 2010 Business Edition (or whatever it's called) for $11.

MS has this deal for many corporate customers and the average consumer would love that price but it's a special inside deal only.

Wind's mistake is not having a mechanism in place that prevents confusion (i.e. like MS).

I think most people will see it as a bad experience. I have Wind(and love it) and as a moderator i don't have a problem with the reporting of his experience.

That story is his story. Every company will have a mixture of happy and unhappy customers.

Hopefully a story like this will help Wind improve issues that were illustrated.

We all have bad experiences and many of us just decide to walk away and shop elsewhere and tell our friends about our bad experience.

Not knowing why a customer left or not having an opportunity to fix a problem before the customer leaves, for a company, this is a the worse case scenario.

Feedback is needed of this type to prevent additional experiences.

Wind Mobile should have secret shoppers, if they don't already.

The bottom line is line: If he wasn't eligible for this plan then they shouldn't have: processed the order, sent out a phone, attempted to activate the sim card, etc.

Would his experience been any different if he simply ordered from the website using an advertised plan?

tvisforme, the fact that he is the owner of this site and writes a monthly Globe and Mail column is a benefit to Wind Mobile IMHO (since it obviously increased the exposure of the issue).

Wind can either fix the issue (if they agree there is one) or take legal action.

His story was his experience and his experience only. I doubt anybody took away anything different.

My experience was a good one with Wind but I went in person to a store and was able to get everything done in a few minutes (the store surprisingly was empty and this was the Saturday before xmas).

Perhaps instore sales are better handled.
