just get HD channels? All I watch is the US networks, TSN 1&2, Sportsnet, Nat Geo, Discovery, HDNEt, History, CBC, hd only and that's it. But I still have to pay for the rest of the crap out there. Seems our service providers are just as socialist as our governments, ie make everyone pay for everything whether they use it or not. Ok, probably not the first guy to post this kind of rant, but come on already. Give us an HD only option and charge $50 a month for all the channels. I'll sign up in a heartbeat.

Topic discussed many times. There is a CRTC regulation in place which mandates that the providers supply a minimum of "basic cable" (or similar for sat). This may change later this year after the OTA switch to all digital (nothing to do with it, just a "coincidence" in timing). After that true a-la-carte pricing may come to many service providers who may wish to proceed with that option. Search for the previous a-la-carte threads, read them and then post there if you wish. Prices may not be reduced significantly.
