As I am currently with Wind Mobile and I would like to pick up the Galaxy Nexus for the $650 non-contract price through Bell or whoever has it.

Over the past few days, I've visited 2 Best Buy stores and spoke to a rep in the Mobile area and asked if I could pick this up for the $650 no contract price on December 8th.

Both reps say that they cannot sell without a 3 year contract for at least 30-60 Days. Is there any place that I could pick this phone up without a contract?

In its press releases, Bell says it will sell without a contract for $650 so I suggest trying Bell Stores, The Source and Virgin Mobile stores (which are all owned by Bell). If they refuse then my guess is you are out of luck.

Technically it is illegal for them to refuse to sell it to you without a contract. If they list a no term price they must be willing to sell at that price. You could try and argue that in store, but good luck trying to get a resolution within the 30-60 days if they still refuse.

You can get them at some online retailers, but at severely jacked up prices. If you know a friend with a current contract with Bell or Virgin, they might have more luck buying it outright for you. Your best bet though, if you can, might be to wait until January when more providers pick it up.

Thanks, I will try The Source or a Bell store.

I just hope they also do not demand I activate a month to month plan. I just want the phone, that's it, that's all.

That is actually what i said to the BestBuy reps, that it was a christmas gift and thus didn't want the recipient sign a contract.

They still said that they will only sell for 3year contract during the first 30-60 days.

Got the same info here over the phone. They CANT sell it without a contract at this moment.

Also i got a confirmation that the phone will be locked. A 70$ fee will be required to unlocked it EVEN if you pay the phone fully!

What a load of bullock!!

Although I've read many reviews that said this phone is NOT locked, I'm sure there are plenty ways to get it unlocked than paying $70 to the carrier.

Samsung Canada told me that it would not be sold locked by any carrier.

I'm pretty sure a requirement for carriers to sell the Nexus lines is it cannot be locked.

It's probably just a lie to reduce non-bell customers from buying.
We all know bell's not above outright lying (Fibe commercials, "fibre optic internet", anyone? :p)

There's someone on the WIND forums who posted that he purchased the Galaxy Nexus from Virgin and it works fine on the WIND network. So,it looks like it's indeed unlocked.

This person also had to pay 30 days service plus a $30 connection fee.

$650 is a steep enough price for this phone to have to pay the extra crap on top.

The laws of supply and demand are working here. If you really want it on launch day, be prepared to spend the extra $$$.

If you don't want to pay, then you'll just have to wait.

I'm definitely waiting until it's available from WIND. Hopefully I can get it on a Tab. My Nexus One will do just fine until then.

It won't make much difference waiting for WIND to launch it as I wouldn't be able to get it on TAB WITH my Irresistible35 Plan.

Yes WIND could sell it cheaper (probably $599 best case scenario). I don't mind paying the extra $50 now than to wait 3-4 months for WIND to carry it.

I just don't want to have to pay for any plan nor any activation fee on top of the $650 price. I'll drive to my local mall here in Gatineau and visit the Bell/Virgin/The Source/Best Buy/Future Shop stores (tomorrow) to see if any of them will give it to me for the straight $650 no contract price. If no one is willing, then I'll wait til the New Year when other carriers release it.
