R1's are rare these days. Klipsch has killed Athena.
I'm thinking you're trying to upgrade from 6.1 to 7.1?
You could consider using them only on the sides and go for small regular bookshelves at the back. Either way, I think you're most likely looking at buying a pair not just a single speaker. The back speakers don't necessarily have to match the fronts.
Just curious if you still have the AS-R1.2 sitting in boxes in your basement ?
and if so, if you might be interested in selling them. As you well know, they're hard to come-by. Should have picked-up 4 on my outing to Rochester (bought them off of EBay, but Dear Wifey said that two should be enough
