Where are the personal settings stored in a Bell 9500 ?
Are they stored in the internal PVR hard drive
or are they stored in separate non-volatile memory chips
in the receiver itself ?

I'm asking because I had some PVR recordings freezing in the middle of playbacks.
It occurred 3 times and I'm suspecting the internal 1T hard drive to be corrupted.
Each time I had to unplug the unit, re-connect it then
go to my recordings and erase the 'corrupt' recorded program.
Doing so everything go well again.. until the next program freeze..
So I am thinking of replacing the HD with the same type of drive, same brand/model.
The actual recorded programs do not matter and can be erased.

BUT.. Before doing so I need to know if I'm gonna loose all my channel guide's preferred channels list,
calendar/clock programing settings and so on.. ?

Basic receiver settings will be preserved. Things that are stored on disk such as program timers and recordings will be lost. Not sure about other settings such as channel preferences but I suspect they will be preserved. Basically, any settings that a standard receiver stores will be preserved but PVR specific and recording related information will likely be lost.

There are threads about Bell PVR hard drive replacement and receiver repair that have lots of information. They haven't been very active lately so they might not have the latest information.
