Another dose of Sacha Baron Cohen, not as the main character this time: The Trial of the Chicago 7 on Netflix. Highly recommended. I was shaking my head the whole time, looking at how corrupt the judicial system was.

Just started watching Season 1 of Damages on Amazon Prime.
Watched first 3 episodes last night and will keep watching until I'm finished.
Will likely binge the entire series.
It's just so good.

I watched this series several years ago. The entire series is excellent . Like The Shield, this series did not get the attention it deserved at the time. Glenn Close and Rose Byrne were both amazing.

Terminator: Dark Fate - In the apocalyptic future that follows the unexpected death of John Connor, the A.I. known as Legion sends a Rev-9 Terminator back in time to kill Dani Ramos, future leader of the Resistance. To thwart Legion and ensure that the Resistance can continue to exist, Grace - a cybernetically-enhanced super-soldier - is sent back to 2020 to save Dani. Thanks to the help of a bitter Sarah Connor and Carl, the drapery specialist, the fate of the world looks a lot less dark.

Comments: This was an entirely unnecessary sequel / reboot with some bad writing, but Ahhnold was great and had some good lines. :cool: So, overall, it was perfectly watchable.

I had intended on watching The Wire, I have the bluray box set and was planning on watching that but I couldn't find where I had stashed it so started watching Damages instead.
I've since found the box set but it will have to wait until I'm finished with Damages.
I also have the Shield box set but see that it's also on Amazon Prime, so probably just stream it at some point.

Just watched Stage Mother with Jackie Weaver and Lucy Liu on Amazon Prime.
Was a pretty enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half after non stop bingeing 3 seasons of Damages also on AP.

Just finished first season of The Wilds on Amazon Prime.
Watched it over 3 nights and found it riveting. Unfortunately, it ended a bit abruptly and no doubt will be a long wait for season 2 but all in all, very well worth the watch.

The Queen's Gambit, Netflix. It's basically an underdog story but with better developed characters and fewer cliches than most shows or movies in the genre. One of the best limited series I've seen in recent years.

@ExDilbert,

I read the book many years ago and loved it, at the time I thought it would make a terrific movie. A series is even better, I might end up having to sign up for Netflix just to see it.

Soul - An unfortunate accident lands Joe - an aspiring jazz pianist - in an afterlife limbo, desperate to return to his hospitalized body so that he can make it to his first gig with a jazz great. Along the way, helping 22 - a despondent soul - find her spark may be the greatest thing he'll ever do.

Comments: This movie could have been so much more, but aside from a few really nice moments it was another infrequent Pixar fail - a soul-less mess of noise, chaos, annoying characters and pointless "humour". Thankfully the animation, which ranged from wonderfully lifelike to bizarrely abstract, was terrific.

Just watched The Sound, a Canada/New Zealand production on CBC Gem.
Certainly has lots of twists and great scenery.
I find the 5$ a month for the ad free version of Gem is well worth it and I like supporting CBC.

I also enjoyed "The Sounds" on CBC when it aired on regular TV this fall. I thought they were trying a bit too hard for plot twists during the last couple of episodes. Loved the Esther character. I don't think it was as good as the "Top of the Lake" series.

@57,
Yes, I would agree with you that it's not as good as Top of the Lake although to be honest I didn't care as much for the second series.
I would imagine that The Sounds was made for a lot less than either of the Top of the Lake series.
I have to say I did find some of the 'Canadian' accents a bit strange.

Started watching The Spanish Princess season 2. I'm finding that the production values are quite a bit lower than previous shows in the series, especially the The White Queen and The White Princess.
