Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome web browser continue to gain market share at the expense of Internet Explorer and Firefox according to recent figures published by NetMarketshare.

Total worldwide usage in July 2011 for Chrome was 13.49%, up 0.38% from June and up over 85% from the 7.16% recorded in the same month of 2010. The Apple Safari browser recorded a 8.1% market share up from 7.48% in March and up over 60% from the same month of 2010.

Internet Explorer remained the browser of choice worldwide with a 52.71% share, down significantly from 60.74% in July 2010. Firefox was the second most popular browser in July with a 21.67% share, down from 22.91% in the same month a year earlier.
