Web browser market share for April 2011

Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome web browser continue to gain market share at the expense of Internet Explorer and Firefox according to recent figures published by NetMarketshare.

Total worldwide usage in April 2011 for Chrome was 11.94%, up 0.37% from March and up over 75% from the 6.73% recorded in the same month of 2010. The Apple Safari browser recorded a 7.15% market share up 6.61% in March and up over 50% from the same month of 2010.

Internet Explorer remained the browser of choice worldwide with a 55.11% share, down significantly from 59.95% in April 2010. Firefox was the second most popular browser in February with a 21.8% share, down from 24.59% in the same month a year earlier.
