Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out..i have a 5.1 setup with the vsx 818v receiver and i hooked it up with rogers cable box with a monster optical wire. I noticed that theres like a 1 second delay with the audio and the picture. Can anyone tell me what I have to do to sync it? Thanks

Sync

Sorry to sound harsh but I don't think so with that receiver. You need something that can add delay to the sound that matches the time it takes for the video to process, about .3 seconds.

I had the same issue and ended up replacing my receiver. If you get something that supports hdmi 1.3 any source that supports the standard will sync itself. That and a newer receiver will give you Dolby TrueHD and DTS -hd for when you get a Blu-Ray player.

1. Sorry, something seems to have happened with the link. Here's the correct one.

2. AVR - Audio Video Receiver, STB - Set Top Box (Cable Box), Other acronyms:

3. Some AVRs have the option to delay audio in the User setup menu for the AVR, however, that would not be good if your other equipment doesn't have the delay. Check out my synch link first, reboot the STB, etc:

let me explain what i did for my set up.

So basically i have a 1080p lcd from toshiba , which i hooked it up with my HD rogers receiver with an HDMI cable for picture. Then i got optic cable and plugged it from my rogers box to my pioneer receiver for sound. Could that may of caused the delay?
