Viewing HDPVR 630 on computer

Hi guys,

I've been scouring the forums, but haven't found a clear answer on this yet. Is there a capture card / external capture card that anyone knows of that will allow me to watch HD on my computer.

I can find a firewire port on this device and from what I've read it sounds like all I need is a catpure card not a tv tuner ? If anyone has done this or knows if it possible to input from the satellite receiver to the computer that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Please see the following FAQ on Recording HD. There's a link in there to the Hauppauge HDPVR as well as explanations of various limitations. Although firewire may work in some instances, I believe it's often 5C protected and not reliable - also discussed in the HTPC forum here.

STB = Set Top Box - your PVR. Here's the acronyms FAQ - you may want to check out my second link in the previous post:

There are no capture cards that accept HD signals from a STB, which require component video or HDMI connections. If you're satisfied with SD, then an S-video or composite video connection to the computer would work. Or, if the computer monitor has parallel connections, you could connect the STB to the monitor instead of the computer.

The capture cards on the web are designed to be used with OTA signals.
