You no longer have to source your shows on multiple platforms to get all the episodes you want.

Do you love binge-watching your shows? The weekend is here, and many viewers will be tuning into subscription-based services like Netflix. But sometimes all the episodes you’re searching for aren’t all in one place.

If you find yourself annoyed at having to search over multiple platforms to find the episodes you’re missing, Shaw’s  BlueSky TV has an answer to your problem.

Earlier this fall, Shaw Communications announced the launch of Netflix on BlueSky TV, giving Western Canadians who subscribe to Shaw BlueSky TV, Shaw WideOpen Internet 150 and Netflix a “new, seamless way to binge-watch their favourite shows and movies”.

The new integrated platform means you no longer have to change remotes or juggle multiple cords to get the set up you want.

Voice Commands

Simply use voice commands with Shaw BlueSky TV voice remote and say “Narcos,” for example, and every back season and new episode of the show will appear.

Basically, the integration of Netflix into Shaw BlueSky TV’s means the system can source your shows from multiple platforms at once. It doesn’t matter if some of them are available through Netflix, Shaw On Demand, airing live, or recorded on the PVR- they’ll all going to come up as viewing options.

And if you’re not certain what the show you’re looking for is called, BlueSky TV’s voice remote can also help you search for content by naming an actor or genre. Simply wish to relax but you aren’t sure what you’d like to watch? Ask the system “What should I watch?” and personalized recommendations will pop up, allowing you to choose something new that you might not have thought of.

For those who don’t have a Netflix subscription but are a BlueSky TV subscriber, here's how you can sign up: choose from a Basic, Standard or Premium Netflix account directly through your BlueSky TV set-top box. You’ll need your credit card on hand, and some personal information, and you’re good to go.

How much will all this cost you?

BlueSky TV and WideOpen Internet 150 are available together for as low as $79.90 per month to viewers in Western Canada for the first 12 months as part of a two-year ValuePlan.  When you watch Netflix content through the system, you can enjoy unlimited data with no overage fees.

For it’s part, a Netflix subscription costs between $8.99 and $14.99 per month in Canada.

As described by its website, the video service is “the world’s leading internet entertainment service with 104 million members in over 190 countries enjoying more than 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day, including original series, documentaries and feature films. Members can watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, on nearly any internet-connected screen. Members can play, pause and resume watching, all without commercials or commitments.”
