HD channels are in the 600's and 700's.inter_active said:I don't think Videotron should be allowed to advertise HD if they don't have it in HD! I just got illico in Feb, and I'm very disappointed two thirds of my channels are not HD!!! They told me I was paying extra for all the HD offerings
Not sure why Videotron does not broadcast almost all of the Shaw Media channels in HD (except for National Geographic).Back on topic, Fox Sports World Canada has been removed on channel 119.
Shaw Media replaces the channel with Nat Geo Wild, which is being launched May 7th, but Vidéotron hasn't picked it up.
57,We have a dedicated thread for the new Videotron and for Fibe. This thread is about new channels. Please stay on the topic. Thanks.
I do think that the "bandwith capacity" excuse is rather suspicious. Case in point, Videotron carries CBC's Explora in SD and HD as soon as the channel is launched. Customers have been asking for AMC, for example, for years. As well, it has been years since many popular channels are available in HD on all major Canadian carriers but Videotron.I am not understanding the lack of HD stations either. On one hand videotron says it is the bandwidth but then they say they are negotiating for the HD version (I guess additional cost).
I keep trying to rationalize why I stay with them but when BellFibe hits my building and videotron still lacks the same offerings I will really have to decide on a move.
If the problem was only about the licences, maybe I could understand. However, I have been asking also for timeshifting channels in HD since 2009 - either Canadian or American - and nothing is moving in that front. The channels are already there in SD, they are originally available in HD (except NTV) and competitors offer them. To compel them even more, the Canadian timeshifting includes 3 English and 2 French networks.a videotron rep told me that abc sparks and amc were very demanding, and they are still negotiating.
Unfortunately most popular channels and Quebecor-owned channels are usually french ones.During this process, they have to pick new HD channels by priority: the most popular channels, Quebecor-owned channels, and those channels offering unique programming.
