I have a quad core AMD and an ATI 4350 and it plays all SD and HD videos fine as long as it has been rebooted. If I have woken the computer up from sleep all the video I try skips or barely plays at all. Both SD and HD video.

I have my power setting set to "balanced". I am pretty sure it must be related to that but I don't know where to go from there.

Does anyone have any suggestions??

Thanks, CanadianZ

PS I have updated all my drivers for my video card

Curious on what application you use to play your video files. I'm having a similar issues with XBMC on my HTPC, but it seems to happen after the system's been running for a few days (I don't know if sleeping/waking it up would cause the same thing).

ATI X1650XT video card for me.

Check the CPU usage (eg with one of the sidebar gadgets). I am guessing it somehow got stuck at 550-100% for some reason.

Could be the playback software, codec, a driver or another application causing problems. I've seen choppy video playback with CPU usage under 25% so that is not necessarily the problem. Without more info and troubleshooting, it's not possible to determine the cause.
