I have a Samsung DVD-R150 recorder. I am able to record some SD movies from the Movie Channel but other SD movies are not recordable (I get a "Can not record copyright movies" type of message). My pvr is pretty much full and I'd like to transfer some of the content before they get overwritten. I've searched some of the threads within this forum but haven't found anything that is current. Any ideas?

Here's the thread on the topic, along with workaround links in post 1.

Here's a useful post: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=57741

Wiremonkey. It's very rare that a DVD recorder has component video inputs and none have HDMI inputs, although, as mentioned in the linked thread, if you use component video from the STB to the TV, this may (rarely) eliminate some recording issues. Any component video inputs on DVD recorders are limited to 480i signals. Most DVD recorders have composite or S-video inputs (along with analogue audio)
