Total worldwide usage for Internet Explorer in April 2010 was 59.95%, which on the surface seems impressive until you realize that IE's share two years ago was 75% and almost 95% at its peak.
The world's second most popular web browser in April was Firefox at 24.59%, followed by Google Chrome at 6.73%, Apple Safari at 4.72% and Opera at 2.3%.

Over the course of the last year, IE has lost almost eight points of marketshare (see charts below). The big gainer over the last 12 months has been Google Chrome which has increased its share almost 5 percentage points from 1.79%. Firefox has seen its share stay relatively flat over the last year, up just 0.75%.
