Ataque de Panico (Panic Attack), a five minute short film posted on Youtube in early November by Fede Alvarez has landed the Uruguayan filmmaker a $30 million dollar movie deal.

The film, which was reportedly made for less than $1,000, portrays the attack and destruction of Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay by giant alien robots and spacecraft.

The video, which has now registered more than 1.6 million views, began attracting attention from movie moguls just days after it was uploaded.

"I uploaded (Panic Attack!) on a Thursday and on Monday my inbox was totally full of emails from Hollywood studios," Alvarez told BBC's Latin American service, BBC Mundo.

Alvarez has accepted an offer from Ghost Pictures, owned by Spiderman director Sam Raimi, to direct a full-length movie set in Uruguay.
