I recently posted a note in which I postulated a feature whereby the user could choose a location in the viewfinder for which the camera could then focus.

It's already here.

I noticed that the Panasonic G2 comes with a stylus with which to indicate a point to focus upon in the LCD view. This is fine for static subjects, but not practical for moving subjects.

The differenct focusing technique in cameras such as the Panasonic allow for this feature. An exposure point can also be chosen.
