Hi,
I wish to connect my HTPC to my Toshiba rear projection HDTV using the HDMI connection,
however the manual states "this tv is not intended for connection to and should not be used with a pc"

does anyone know why it would say that?

Probably because CRT-based RPTVs are prone to burn-in. See the following FAQ on that topic: If you're only going to use the TV as a "static image computer monitor" part time (say 20%), then this should be OK, as discussed in the FAQ. The TV has a DVI/HDCP connection according to the specs I read - what are you planning to do for audio?

Thanks for the reply!
Now that you mention it, I do believe that burn-in is the reason for this warning.

I looked up the user's manuals for some random toshiba plasma HDTV's (which i believe is also prone to burn-in) and they also had the same warning, and this warning is absent from the user's manuals for toshiba's LCD HDTV's.
