My suspicion is TiVo is talking to all of the BDUs to see if any of them will license TiVo's IP. (Perhaps with some threats of patent lawsuits.) And it's funny, the whole reason CableCard exists in the US and not in Canada is regulatory; technology had nothing to do with it. (There's a reason HDTVs don't have CableCARD slots anymore...)
